Next Up!
March is right around the corner and W-4 is gearing up
to tackle some awesome curriculum. Here's a peek at what is to come:
MATH:
Size, Shape, and Symmetry
Students
continue their measurement work from earlier grades by measuring distance and
perimeter using both U.S. and metric units. Classification
of two-dimensional shapes, compare the size of angles, and work with linear and
area measurement. Students
will define and categorize polygons by identifying sets of shapes that have a
common attribute and use 90 degrees as a reference for finding the measurement
of other angles.
LITERACY: American Revolution
Students will be engaged in this
non-fiction unit for the purpose of the following:
·
Historians realize there are always
multiple points of view, and they pay careful attention to this so they can try
to form a more complete understanding of what happened in the past.
·
Readers look at historical evidence and
ask themselves "What does this tell me? What can I make of this? How can I
use this to support my point of view?"
·
A good debater states a position, gives
reasons to back up that position, and gives evidence to support each of their
reasons.
·
Stage a Second Continental Congress
Debate w/ students
This is an amazing unit and one I find the kids to love the most
during the year!
